I installed them on a K1600 and didn’t have to do that, only difficult part is figuring out which bolt they are wanting you to use since the instructions are in metric.

I used Heed bars.  Arrived quickly and was packaged very well.

I use Instagram, but not as often as FB.  You can have them crosspost to each other.  I have IG going to FB, but not the other way.

I do not see any downside to what you are looking to do.
