This Saturday we’ll make our way over to New Wilmington, PA for lunch at the Tavern on the Square. The road across Ohio is mostly straight, but rural and lightly traveled. After a rest stop in Cortland on Mosquito Lake, we will turn south and east, skirting below Sharon, PA and then east into Pennsylvania. Before long we’ll be in the relatively small, conservative Amish community around New Wilmington and Volant, PA, distinguished by their brown buggies. Our ride includes some delightful small roads through the community (about a mile of gravel at one point) which put us up close to the Amish homesteads and fields. Plan on lunch around 1 PM. New Wilmington is close to I-376 and I-80 for those who want to take the quick route home, or if you want to make a weekend of it Tionesta is only an hour and a half away and the Allegheny Forest offers fantastic roads and scenery
We’ll be leaving Bob Evans in Macedonia (I-271 and Rte 8) promptly at 10 AM this Saturday, June 15. Come with a full tank of gas and tires aired up; come early for breakfast. The GPS route to New Wilmington Tavern on the Square is available in the “About/extras” section of the website.
