Saturday we ride northeast to the Grand River Valley wine region to savor the aromas of the ripening grapes and lunch at Ferrante’s Ristorante. From Bob Evans we’ll head east on Old Mill Road and Mennonite Road where we turn north on Munn and Sperry Roads to the Holden Arboretum for a rest stop. From there we’ll ride along the Lake Erie Bluffs taking some small tree-canopied roads (all paved, but a few short stretches are in poor shape). At SR 528 we begin our tour of the Grand River Valley wine region. If it’s not too breezy we should be able to smell the ripe grapes as we ride by. This is about the peak of the grape harvest so we should see pickers in the fields and maybe have a chance to sample fresh pressed grape juice. Lunch will be at Ferrante’s Winery, a favorite spot of the Wednesday group.
We should get to Ferrante’s around 1 PM. It’s just a mile or two from there to I-90 so it’s a fast trip home.
The ride will depart Bob Evans in Macedonia (SR 8 and I-271) promptly at 10 AM. Come early for breakfast, and remember to have a full tank full of gas and your tires aired up.
Guests and bikes of all kinds are welcome!
