Saturday Ride East- Mid-Ohio Vintage Days

The July 23rd ride will take us to the 30th annual AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days at the Mid Ohio racecourse in Lexington Ohio.  This event features vintage motorcycle racing and acres of interesting demos and swap meets. Tickets at the door are $40, and if you’ve never attended you owe it to yourself to see this world-class event.

Meet at Bob Evans, MEDINA at route 71 and 18, (3049 Medina Rd) and be ready to ride at 9 – If you’re interested in breakfast remember that Bob’s is quite busy on Saturday morning, so plan ahead. Ride leader Mike Sikora will be there at 8.

We have two options for the route to Mid-Ohio:

Option 1 – 75 miles that begin on 71 until the next exit at 224. From there we proceed for the next two hours through rolling terrain, farmlands and small cities before arriving at the west side of Mid-Ohio.

Option 2 – this route remains on 71 for 60 miles and exits mile maker 165 for a trip up 97 to 42 and Steam Corners Road in Lexington for the eastern entrance to Mid-Ohio.

We’ll discuss the options at breakfast to figure out which route is preferred!

PLEASE NOTE TWO IMPORTANT POINTS:

1. If you purchase tickets online, you MUST print them out and bring the page with you to the gate. They CANNOT scan the QR code off your phone.
2. Bring a hat, sunscreen and a sidestand pad suitable for parking on soft grass!

I am trying to arrange my schedule to make this ride…  I am new to the club and for the last 8 years or so am a big byways fan.  I used to commute from Scranton PA to Clifton NJ via I80, boy I saw it all….  But the icing on the cake for me was when an extension ladder slid across 4 lanes of traffic and wound up in my direction of travel while on my RT….  Fortunately for me it was perfectly aligned where I rode ride up the rungs of the ladder…  Lost some filing is all!!

That said looking at the 224 interchange and depending on the number of riders, may lose a few…..

Mid Ohio Vintage Bike Ride
Just a reminder : tomorrow’s ride begins at Bob Even’s MEDINA (I-71 and Rt 18) not Macedonia. Additionally, the ride will depart at 9am rather than the usual 10.
