Saturday rides are here! We’re kicking off the west side rides this year with a leisurely ride south to the East Main Kitchen in Baltic, a club favorite for their delicious, healthy food and incredible home baked desserts. But wait… this ride is about the ride, not the destination, right? So….

We’ll head east from Bob Evans in Brunswick to State Road where we make our way south on secondary roads to Doylestown. South of Doylestown we turn on to the Black Diamond Road, a lovely small road that takes us through lowlands toward Dalton to our rest stop at the Marathon on our right. From Dalton we ride south on less-traveled roads into parts of Holmes County we don’t often visit. We’ll pass through Charm, the home of Keim Lumber known around the county for their inventory of unusual woods and woodworking tools of all types. Finally we make it to East Main Kitchen in Baltic around 12:45 for lunch. Make sure you have room to take some desserts back home.

After lunch I’ll be taking side roads east to I-77 at New Philadelphia and you are welcome to join me, or you can spend the afternoon extending your own ride in this lovely riding area.

Usual routine:  Ride departs Bob Evans in Brunswick (3198 Center Rd at I-71) Saturday, May 1, promptly at 10 AM. Come early for breakfast and please be sure to have a full tank of gas. Bring your own lunch if you are not comfortable eating inside.

I’ll be pre-riding the route tomorrow and posting the gps file shortly thereafter.

Sorry to be late with this update – I tried earlier in the week but it didn’t go through.

I routed around one detour and added a couple of new wrinkles, and the route is ready to go! The farmers are out working the soil, truck farmers are planting vegetables, fruits trees are in blossom, and pollen is in the air. This entire route is on small back roads, all paved and in good condition. Riding small roads makes me feel more like I am part of the landscape I am riding through, and I get to see the less developed parts of the country. If you enjoy small roads you’ll like this route.

Just to be sure, we will meet at the Bob Evans in Brunswick off of I-71.

Here are the gps files for the main route, and the cross country short-cut from Baltic to I-77 at New Philadelphia:
