ParticipantTHE OVERVIEW:
Wally has asked me to plan-up and lead the Saturday Expedition next week on July 11th. The attendance at these rides has been growing, and to improve road-management I have enlisted Rich Frantz to lead the second wave of the assault. As usual we’ll depart at 10am from Bob Evan’s at the I-71 and Rt 303 exchange after a short briefing and the normal paperwork. I plan on arriving about 9 for breakfast and a bit of pre-ride conversatiion.
THE ROUTE: South on Carpenter Rd, West on Sleepy Hollow, South on Plum Creek Rd. East on Hamilton, South on Frantz Rd, left on S Weymouth to South on Nichols. East on Granger, South on Boneta. West on Fixler, South on Bear Swamp to Rt 57 (Wadsworth Rd).
We’ll pass West of Wadsworth on 57 then East on E.Easton Rd to Left on Warwick. Warwick Rd turns into Manchester which is taken South to Millersberg Rd (241). Millersberg Rd turns into Massilon Rd and we reach the pitsop at the Bellstore station on E Main St in Mt Eaton (I figure about 10:20am). We’ll stay on 241 (Massilon Rd) until it splits left on Rt 37 (Winesburg Rd). Winesburg turns into CR186 which takes us to US 62 South. About a mile S of Winesburg south we turn left on 515 which takes us into Walnut Creek, then South on 39 for about 0.4 miles. The twisties begin in earnest as we turn right (West) on CR114. We’ll turn Rt on CR70 and take it into Charm, where a quick left/right puts us on Township Rd 156. Another quick right/left to CR19, which crosses Rt 83 and turns into CR150. We proceed North to CR35 West (left turn) which takes us into Killbuck. North on Main Street to Northwest on Rt60. in 1.3 miles Rt (NE) on CR292 to the Holmes County Airport 3 miles on our right. 2 miles later a right on Rt 39 puts us in Millersberg. We should arrive around noon.
NOW the important stuff:
Lunch: BAGS Sports Pub, 88 E. Jackson St, Millersberg, 44654. It’s on the North side of 39 a block past the center of town. Parking is on the South side of 39 in the lot of a closed bank. The menu (crucial for all Wednesday Romeo’s) is here: http://bagspub.com/menu-bags-sports-pub/
Total ride length 91.3 miles.
If, like me, you’re a gps player, the route can be downloaded: HERE .
Additionally it can be found in the GPS Files section under “July 11 BMWMOC Millersberg route”. For those interested in a moving map route depiction, go here https://www.relive.cc/view/vrqodB4ARKv
In this COVID environment masks and social distancing are the rule-of-the-day. Let’s all stay safe; it’s a jungle out there…
I look forward to seeing you next Saturday. This is a great ride and a super lunch. Thanks to Wally for the opportunity and to Rich Frantz for his area expertise.
