I have finalized the route for our ride to the D Day re-enactment in Conneaut this Saturday, August 19. We will depart from Bob Evans in Macedonia at 9:00 (NOT our normal 10:00 departure time). If you want breakfast before we leave, plan to arrive earlier than usual.
Tickets are required to get into the event. Several people have requested that I reserve a ticket for them, and I have done so. Tickets for Saturday are sold out, but I still have 5 tickets unclaimed; if you want your name on one, please let me know. Friday night I will update this post with the number of unclaimed tickets I have remaining.
We will ride up I-271 and I-90 to Vrooman Rd, and take backroads from there up to Conneaut. We’ll have a rest stop at the Circle K station at the intersection of OH Rt 84 and OH Rt 534 (Geneva), we should be there just after 10:00. The total distance is about 82 miles.
You can read all about the even at the website: D-Day Conneaut (ddayohio.us). There is parking in Conneaut at various public lots, but we won’t know until we get there exactly where we can park. Be prepared to park on an un-paved lot. I have set up our route to end at the Primary School a few blocks south of the township park where there should be parking available. There is a special parking lot for veterans and handicapped at the High School, a few blocks further south from the Primary School. There will be shuttle service from that special lot. If you want to sit during the events, bring your own chair.
The GPX file for the route is in the GPS Files section of our website; look for “Conneaut D Day Ride.gpx”. The weather forecast is for sunny and mid 70’s, so I’m looking forward to a great day!
