Update to Mohican State Forest ride on Sept 5, 2020.

I’ve made a few modifications to the route for Saturday to avoid closed or gravel roads, and to add two new stops. I’ve added a rest stop at the dramatic Gorge Overlook of the Clear Fork River canyon in Mohican State Forest – this is rugged country, folks! Second, we will end our ride with lunch on the outdoor deck at the Copper Mug Bar and Grill at Landoll’s Mohican Castle, rather than riding into Loudenville to the Black Fork Bistro.

This will be a leisurely ride. Much of the ride is heavily wooded, and the roads are small but all paved. Keep an eye out when we’re on the Old Lincoln Road from Wooster to the rest stop at Hayesville for old barns, homes and inns. This was America’s first transcontinental road, dedicated in 1903.

There is plenty of great riding in the Mohican area, worth arranging for accommodations and staying a day or two to take advantage of the roads and scenery.

Here is the GPS file for BobsB to Mohican State Forest

If you plan to meet us for lunch you’ll need to find your way to Landoll’s Mohican Castle, 561 Township Road 3352, about 5 miles (as the bird flied) directly south of Loudenville. We should be there by 1 PM, perhaps a little earlier.
