Mike Sikora asks of Wally G..
I thought this may be useful to transfer routes from Base Camp to my phone for use on the GT. Your thoughts?
My search of the internet provides this possibility:
To transfer BaseCamp routes to your cellphone, you need to export the routes from BaseCamp as a GPX file, then import that file into a compatible navigation app on your phone by connecting your phone to your computer and selecting the GPX file to transfer; most Garmin devices and navigation apps can handle GPX files for route sharing.
-
Open BaseCamp:
Launch the BaseCamp software on your computer and select the routes you want to transfer.
-
Export as GPX:
Go to “File” > “Export Selected User Data” and choose GPX as the file format.
-
Transfer to phone:
- Directly on phone: If your phone has a file manager that supports GPX files, download the exported GPX file directly to your phone.
- Through computer: Connect your phone to your computer and transfer the exported GPX file to a suitable location on your phone.
- Directly on phone: If your phone has a file manager that supports GPX files, download the exported GPX file directly to your phone.
-
Import into navigation app:
Open your preferred navigation app on your phone, access the import function, and select the transferred GPX file to load the routes.
- Compatible app: Ensure your phone has a navigation app that supports GPX file import.
- Device connection: Make sure your phone is properly connected to your computer for file transfer.
- File format: Always check that the exported file is in GPX format.
