Revised Route to Marietta
A few days ago I was “riding around” south of New Philadelphia and much to my surprise (and absolute delight) I discovered a little piece of West Virginia tucked away just a couple miles south of the SR 416 exit on US 250! I couldn’t believe the hills, curvy roads, tree cover, and small roads, some of them only a lane wide but nicely paved with asphalt. These are the kind of roads that are usually dirt and gravel, but for some reason they are paved here in this little patch of Ohio.
So, of course, I had to modify the Day 1 route to Marietta to include these roads. I think you will be surprised, as I was, to ride this enchanting little area, and it will be a nice setup (along with the roads in further south in Wayne National Forest) for our ride Saturday in the real West Virginia.
